Ballymacelligott Handball Club News 13th January 2002
The Club was well represented last weekend at the Munster Open. We had players in various categories. The games were fantastic and all involved had a very enjoyable weekend. Three players from the Club got to the semi finals of the open.
Padraig McCarthy in the boy's under 15, Sandie McSwiney in the girls U15 and Maria Daly in the Girl's U16.
Sandie and Maria went on to win in their age groups and we congratulate them both on their great performance. It is a good start to their year and exceptionally good for the club to have so many players taking part in competition at present.

Later that night Martin Lawlor & Philly Parsons (Kilkenny) defeated the Kerry players 21/8. 21/14.
Boys U17 in O Callaghans Mills.
Gary O Connor (Ballymac) beat Pauric Buggy (Laois) 21/6, 21/7 in the second round and Damien Martin (Roscommon) defeated Gary in the third round 21/12, 21/11
Boys Under 15 in Toonagh.
Liam Thompson (Ballymac) was beaten by Ger Coonan (Tipperary) 21/2, 21/2 in the second round.
Tim Prendiville (Ballymac) walk over V Mark Mythen (Wexford) and was defeated by Gary Kenny (Wexford) 21/10, 21/16 in the third round.
Padraig McCarthy (Ballymac) beat Jerome Willoughby (Wicklow) 21/16, 21/7 in the second round and defeated Gavin O Keeffee (Kilkenny) 21/3, 21/4 in the third round. Ger Coonan (Tipperary) defeated Padraig 21/15, 21/16 in the boy's under 15 semi-final.

Lisa Falvey (Ballymac) beaten by Kerry McNulty (Galway) 21/14, 21/15
Karen Lawlor (Tralee) did not play (injured).
Ashley Prendiville (Ballymac) defeated Ruth Kelly (Galway) 21/2. 21/7 and was defeated by Sandy McSwiney (Ballymac) in the second round 21/5. 21/10
Sandy McSwiney (Ballymac) defeated Nicola Kelly 21/13 21/15 to take the girl's U15 title.

Girls Under 17
Marie Daly (Ballymac) defeated Rachel Casey (Galway) 21/2, 21/2 to take the Munster open girl's Under 17 title

All in all it was a great weekend for handball and Kerry players. Four players got to the semi-finals and winning two was a great plus for Kerry and the local handball scene.

Juvenile County Finals coming up.
The next few weeks sees a very busy handball local scene. On Saturday next a team event takes place for players U12, U13 and U14. The format is an open draw. These games take place in Ballymacelligott.
The following Saturday, 26th January the County Championships for U10 to U13 for boys and girls take place in Tralee and on the 9th February the County Championships for U14, U15, U16 and U17 for boys and girls takes place in Glenbeigh. All entries for County Finals will have to be with the County Board by closing date. This is to facilitate the smooth running of the competitions on the day.

Intervarsity Handball Championships
Institute Technology Tralee is hosting the Intervarsity Handball Championships on the 8th, 9th and 10th February. It is expected that a 100 players will take part and our courts will be used on the Friday and Saturday. It should be a very enjoyable weekend for everyone interested in Handball.

Training for Beginners continues on Sunday mornings at the usual time.
