Traffic Management.
Parking / Speeding / Traffic calming Measures:
This became a BIG ISSUE since 1999 with residents demanding
protection from speeding motorists and saturated parking preventing exiting &
entry to one's home.
I asked the City Manager to install Speed Cameras within residential
zones 25th March 2002 He replied they are extremely expensive and it is unlikely
they would ever be used on "minor roads" I found this answer unacceptable and will continue to work with residents to increase quality of living
finding the best solution in their area. |

ENVIRONMENT
STRATEGIC POLICY COMMITTEE:
To consider and, if so decided to approve the following
recommendations of the Environment Strategic Policy Committee from its meeting held on 29th
July 2002
CARRIGRENNAN WASTE WATER TREATMENT WORKS
:
The report of the Director of Services, Environment on
the modelling of Lee Estuary and Lough Mahon was considered.
The report indicated that at the request of the DOELG, the
EPA commissioned a modelling of the Lee Estuary and Lough Mahon to assess the impact of the
Carrigrennan Wastewater Treatment Plant and to assist in deciding whether nutrient reduction
would be required in addition to the proposed Secondary treatment.
The conclusion reached by the EPA arising from the modelling
study is that "by a wide margin, the benefits of chlorophyll a and dissolved oxygen to be
brought about by secondary treatment with an outfall at Carrigrennan are sufficient to ensure
that the Lee Estuary/Lough Mahon waterbody will not be classed as cutrophie."
Decision of Committee
It was agreed to refer the report of the Director of
Services to An Chomhairle for information. |
|
Oliver Plunkett Street:
