SEPTEMBER 2000
In September of this year, the sixth class pupils were visited by a brother and a niece of our associate in Asuncion, Brother Eddie McCardle.

Having been on a month's visit to Asuncion, Peadar and his daughter gained first hand experience of the conditions and the difficulties that faced Eddie in his daily work with the children in his care. With the aid of some slides, he briefly outlined the Social, Educational and Health issues, which left the children here at such a disadvantage.

The boys in the C.B.S. were congratulated and praised for their efforts during the Trocaire Lenten Campaign and were assured that the money collected by them would be used by
Brother Eddie to fund various projects with the children.

OCTOBER 2000
In a letter received from Brother Eddie he acknowledges the receipt of £1000 from the pupils
of the C.B.S. Primary, Kilkenny.

Part of the money received will be spent on dental care for the children in "the little school".
At present the dentist has spent US$ 323.31 on the first installment of medicine, needles etc. Many of the children are on a course of antibiotics prior to their treatment. Some children need as many as eight extractions but in general are very happy and much relieved to have their teeth attended to. A toothbrush has been bought for each child and although there is only one tap with running water, the children are making greater efforts to care for their teeth.
