Talkin Shite: Lession One - Part Two
The Nod
This can be used in reponse to almost any question, statement, non-sequitir - pretty much any conversational situation.
(i) Let your mouth hang open slightly
(ii) Exhale in a way that suggests you may be about to speak
(iii) With your chin slightly jutting out, throw your head back slightly twice
(iv) Close your mouth and eyes
(v) Let your head hang forward.
Try it! With practice, it becomes a fluid movement. Be careful not to use this manouver too much in the one conversation however, or you many be taken for an idiot, or an undercover narc.
The Stare
An excellent move when somebody says something that you can't understand:
(i) Fix the other person with your eyes
(ii) Purse your lips slightly before briefly
(iii) Frowning - then
(iv) Let a wistful half smile play on your lips.
(v) Look away
(vi) Look back suddenly.
The Stare is a good move when followed immediately by The Nod, as this conveys the false impression to real Irish people that you have actually cottoned on to what they are talking about... Click here to continue to Lession Two Introduction.
