RULES FOR ALL COMPETITIONS
- No late entries will be
accepted
- Brigin Guides and Guides
should wear full uniform to all competitions
- Only ENROLLED REGISTERED
members may take part in competitions. Brigin Guides/Guides registered as a
recruit in November must be enrolled before the competition takes place.
- Small companies of 12 or
less may join with another company provided at least 4 Brigin Guides/Guides
from their company take part in the competition. Entries should indicate if
two companies are joining together.
- Adjudicators decisions are
final

INDIVIDUAL TROPHY

Details:
- Campfire to be 8/10
mins duration. Marks will be deducted for running over time.
- Competition will
take place on the floor of the hall
- Theme of your own
choice.
- Marks will be
awarded for enjoyment, singing and entertainment value.
- 90/95% of the
campfire should consist of singing.
- Maximum of 30

SONG SCENA
Date: 28th March 2004
Details:
- Variety show
- Performance not to
exceed 10 mins. Marks will be deducted for running over
- Entry may consist
of song, dance and dialogue
- Marks will be
awarded for entertainment value, presentation (including costumes and props),
production and use of stage and singing and movement.
- 90/95% should
consist of singing
- Maximum of 30

IRISH SPEAKERS

Brigin Guide should be
able to hold a conversation with the adjudicator on any one of the following
topics

(pastimes, hobbies)

NATURE STUDY
Date: 24th May 2004
Details:
- the team will be
asked to identify four out of six items in the categories below
- The team will also
be asked questions relating to the items identified
- All team members
must be prepared to answer questions on any of the categories.

McINERNEY - ART COMPETITION
Date: 3rd December 2003
Details:
- Design a calendar for the
Guiding Year September 2004 - August 2005 based on 70 years of Guiding in
Dublin
- Size of calendar - A4
- No paints to be used
- Guides to provide own
materials ie markers, crayons, pencils. No extra materials to be included on
the calendar eg cloth material etc
- All work to be undertaken in
HQ on the night.
- Winning design will be
published

FIRST AID
Date: 16 May 2004
Details
- Competition based on Basic
First Aid - participants must have a good knowledge of basic first aid before
they arrive for the competition. All companies should include this in their
programme.
- Team of 3 Guides - team to
bring First Aid Kit
- On the day the Examiners
will instruct on several areas of basic first aid and the competition will
take place in the second half of the day.

HISTORY
Date: 29 March 2004
Details:
- Table Quiz
- Team of 4 Guides, 2 of whom
must be under 13 on October 31st 2003
Subject: 'A place of history
and interest'
Note: Visit the following
places - Dublin Castle, Kilmainham Jail, Trinity College. Look at the
surroundings, history, working life etc. Questions will be set on these
historical places

COMMISSIONER O'DRISCOLL
TROPHY
Date: 17 April 2004
Details:
- Variety show
- Duration 15 mins. Marks will
be deducted for running over
- Emphasis on fun and
enjoyment
- Marks will be awarded for
entertainment value (40%), variety and participant enjoyment (40%), costume
and colour (20%)

FLOWER ARRANGING -
INDIVIDUAL
Date: 17 May 2004
Details:
- An arrangement for a dinner
table with a candle not more than 12" wide by 9" high
- Arrangement to be made in HQ
on the night
- Guides to bring all
equipment needed for the arrangement
