Headfort School

Social Activities

Unlike day primary schools, where there may be a few minutes for Break in the mid-morning and a short lunch period, there are many times during the day and during the school year at Headfort when children must engage with each other and also the adults who are supervising them.

Learning how to interact socially is important in the children’s development. They must learn to compromise in their lives, and also to hold their own.

As an example, after summer exams children go for a short camping trip in the garden of a member of staff. So much is learned, even in the task of keeping the camp-fire going: how to share, work together and make the occasion happier by their presence.
