Bright sunshine.

 

This moth caterpillar was surveying the Devil's-bit Scabious. It's probably one of the Pug moths. Identification work in progress.

 

I think I'll call this image 'sunset fuchsia'...sounds like a name from a paint catalogue.

 

This spider was in the process of wrapping up its next meal. There must be thousands of them in the area. Almost every plant has one or more spiders.

On August 25th, I showed larvae of Nematus pavidus - The Lesser Willow Sawfly. These two photos show them (left) in an even earlier stage (about 3mm long), and the right picture shows what's left of a leaf when they move on. Strangely, some leaves are only partially eaten. I presume some predator (maybe a bird) has cleared the larvae before they can finish the leaf off.
