Coniferous plantation with deciduous fringes.

 

 

 

Dull with occasional bright spells.

This is the Wood Blewit - Lepista nuda.

They seem to be around in large numbers in many places this year. I've seen them in almost every piece of woodland/forestry.

Excellent eating, but beware the Cortinarius that looks somewhat like this but has brown spores (these have pink spores).

Two shots of Meruliopsis corium - a very thin fungus on dead wood. The second shot shows the spore-bearing tubes on the upper surface.

   

 

 

 

Continuing with second-chance flowerings - this Marsh Thistle was flowering from old leaf axils, directly on the stem.

 

This is the Black Helvella - Helvella lacunosa.

 

Compare it with the Common White Helvella - Helvella crispa on September 25th and October 30th.
