The Cyclorama and Blacks Tracks |

The Cyclorama Cloth (cyc cloth) is a large piece of light weight plain continually woven material which is suspended on bobbins from a track which runs round the perimeter of the studio working space.
he Cyclorama is stretched taut by tying weighted bars to the bottom and tying the sides to poles suspended by bobbins from the same track. This gives an even unbroken vertical surface which can be lit evenly from top to bottom or be evenly lit in graded colour from top to bottom as in a sun set. The cyc track is mounted out from the walls or onto the sides of a gantry cat-walk, it runs round the studio allowing for a large area of stretched cyc to encompass the working area on three sides. The track is sometimes fitted with a set of points and a siding for repositioning and storing the cyc out of the way when not required.
A second track running parallel and alongside the cyc track carries the Black Tabs or Black Velvet Drops (the blacks). These are of light absorbent black velvet the same drop (top to bottom measurement) as the cyc but in widths of 2700 to 360mm as distinct to being one large continuous piece.
