St. Joseph & St. Saran's is a Catholic Voluntary Secondary School of almost 300 pupils under the patronage of the Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnois and the Provincial Superior of the Congregation of St. Joseph of Cluny.
Situated in the West Offaly town of Ferbane, we have a long and proud association with education in the area.
St. Joseph's has been a girls' Secondary School since 1906, while St. Saran's was founded in 1958 as a Diocesan Day Secondary School for boys. These two schools formally amalgamated in 1972 to form the present establishment.
A Message from our Principal
Welcome to the St. Joseph & St. Saran's website. As Principal it is my pleasure to invite you to tour our school. The atmosphere in our school is unique. We offer the benefits of a smaller school with smaller class sizes where each student consequently receives more personal attention. This is coupled with a very extensive range of subjects at both Junior and Leaving Certificate level. We are committed to the all-round development of our students and we strike a balance between the academic and extra-curricular activities. I hope you enjoy your visit, and should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact the school,
