The Local Studies Department houses a large collection of published material relating to the history of Kilkenny City and County. The following is a small selection of the most frequently consulted works and histories on various locations and places in Kilkenny city and throughout the county. These vary in size and detail from Canon Carrigan’s distinguished volumes on “The History and Antiquities of the Diocese of Ossory” to specific histories on people and places.
