Killkenny City and County
For more than a
1,000 years, the medieval city of Kilkenny has been a flourishing cultural and
civic centre, taking its origins and its name from the 6th century
monastery of St. Canice.
Kilkenny City and County has a unique selection of
historic sites and buildings of both archaeological and architectural interest,
from St. Canice’s Cathedral and Kilkenny Castle in the centre of the city to
the medieval abbeys of Duiske in Graiguenamanagh and Jerpoint near Thomastown.
