Angel or Riley: Who makes the better boyfriend? |
And not even nice, intellectual anti-vampirey kinds of guys either. First, she spent more than a year hanging off Angel (David Boreanaz), a vampire with a soul except for when he lost said soul and killed a couple of her friends. And she forgave him! Even minus the murders, Angel had some drawbacks. He's brooding. He gets ugly when he shows his demon side. When he's in a good mood, he's liable to undo the curse that keeps him from being a blood-craving beast.
So, to do good for the world, to set Buffy free (how sweet), and to get his own self-titled show, Angel moved to L.A., breaking Buffy's heart. The long-distance relationship thing just wasn't going to happen. Buffy moved on to Riley (Marc Blucas), who looks as corn-fed as cows in Iowa. Riley's a big jock who just happens to belong to a shady army operation known as The Initiative. He's hyperjealous (he fought Angel in the May 9 episode), he slept with Faith (Eliza Dushku) and one might suspect he's somehow allied with the monster Adam (George Hertzberg).
Considering her taste in men ranges from a recovering vampire to a boring, beefy (and maybe bad) soldier, I think Buffy should stay single for a while. Do you think she should be with Angel, Riley, or simply be alone?
