Portarlington is located on the border of Laois and Offaly. The town itself is split by the river Barrow. The Offaly side of the town hosts the Gracefield GAA club, who are always keen competitors in challenge matches and tournaments.

Traveling to Portarlington can be completed by road or rail. The N7 runs about 5 miles south of the town while the rail service separates in Portarlington to feed The South West, West and East.

Portarlington GAA club is located on Canal Road/ Station road intersection and is close to the railway station (200m)

Provinces.

Ireland is broken up into 4 Provinces. Laois is located in the Province of Leinster. Leinster has the most Counties (12) which makes inter county football exciting every year as seldom do you get the same teams playing in the first rounds.

The other Provinces, Ulster, Munster and Connacht have 9,6 and 5 counties respectively.
