Welcome
to 2010
Portarlington GAA would like to wish all the community and
supporters of our club a Happy New Year. As we move into a
new decade we do on the back of a successful 2009 within the
club. A quarter final finish in the Senior football ranks,
two semi final appearances in the Junior Championship
divisions topped by a magnificent victory with the Minor
team.
In
underage levels we are seeing an increase in the numbers of
players entering our club and look forward to these young
hopefuls succeeding in their age group categories this year.
The new
playing field will be ready for this years training and we
hope to have a fun day and official opening of this field
some time in May. It is a great asset to the club but like
everything nowadays needs constant funding to ensure it is
developed to the standards we need.
Easy
Ways to Support Our Club
As the
club grows in size both physically as well as members it is
always a challenge to finance the operation. The best way to
support our club is by purchasing a weekly lottery ticket.
For 2 euro you are entered into a draw that has a guaranteed
jackpot as well as 4 individual smaller denominations of
money. In 2009 our lottery paid out almost €20,000!!! You
can purchase these tickets from any committee member or
online above in the local lotto link. Vodafone are also
offering an excellent opportunity to people to support our
club. If you are a current Vodafone customer all you have to
do is sign up to the Support your GAA Club on the Vodafone
website or you can send on your Name and number to 087 797
3727 and they will be entered into the system. If you sign
up the club will benefit to the tune of 5% of your monthly
bill or top up credit without you having to pay a penny!! If
you wish to support our club but are not a Vodafone customer
why not change and reap the rewards of doing so. Check the
Vodafone site for details or contact any committee member
for more information. So go on and get signed up !!
The 2010
fashion Show
One of
the most talked about and most entertaining social events of
the 2009 club calendar was the Fashion show held in the
Heritage Hotel, Killenard. This year the show takes place
once again in the same venue on the 9th of April.

Memebership
Membership is now due for 2010. We ask that all players
please contact the Club registrar, Brendan Fenlon on
0868161300 for membership details. This year sees the long
awaited introduction of the GAA membership database where
every member will be given a unique membership number.
Membership will also be of benefit when shopping in Colgan
sports. Any member will receive a 10%discount when shopping
in any of Colgan sports outlets.
All
County Draw tickets
Tickets
are now available to purchase from the club. The first draw
takes place at the end of the month. Tickets can be
purchased from any committee member.
