Portumna is located in South East Galway at the point where the River Shannon enters Lough Derg. It is approximately 40 miles from Galway City and a little over 100 miles from Dublin. Our neighbouring towns are: Ballinasloe (20 miles), Loughrea (16 miles), Birr in Co. Offaly (15 miles),  and Borrisokane in Tipperary (9 miles)
