Primary Education
In Ireland our education starts at the age of four. The first education school you attend at this age is called Primary Scool, or Primary Education. Your first year is called Low Babies, next is High Babies then its Junior Infants and then its Senior Infants. Senior Infants is when most kids are seven years old and its the year that these children recieve their first Holy Communion. After Senior Enfants the students enter the more advanced Primary Teaching, here they are introduced to mathamatics, history, arts and craft and more advanced reading and writing. Here the students will remain for five years and on the final year at about twelve years of age they make their Confirmation.

Secondary Education
From their Confirmation they enter the harder life of Secondary Education. Here they Study for three Years preparing for their first major Exam of their lives, the Junior Certificate. Subjects for this exam include Maths, English, French or other, Biology or Pysics, Irish, Art, Mechanical Drawing and Physical Education. During their next two or three years they prepare for their final secondary exam the leavinmg certificate. Like the Junior Certificate the exam favours for both inteligent and the not so inteligent by providing Honours level, Ordinary level and Foundation Level. The Leaving Certificate is one of the most important Certificates in Ireland today. Without the Leaving Certificate you can not go on to further education. In other words it's the key to your future.

After the Leaving Certificate it's up to the individual either to imidiatly start to work or go on to further education. If you wish to go on to Univercity you must have a good Leaving Certificate result behind you. Every result from English to Maths are included in your points system, an A1, is the highest result, but an A1 in Honours Level is worth more points than ordinary or foundation level. Each Univercity contains different point systems, different courses have seperate points, to get into medicine you must have at least 700 points so you must have A1 or B1 in almost all your Leaving Certificate results at honours level, if you want to get into motor mechanics you must have at least 320 points.

Further Education
If however you haven't got enough points you have another option, a P.L.C. Course. Post Leaving Certificate Courses are highly applauded by Univercities all over Ireland. These courses provide the person with first preference to the courses related in the Univercities over the new Leaving Certificate graduates. But remember you can't do a P.L.C. course without your Leaving Certificate. The Post Leaving Certificate courses vary some of them last over two years while others last just one year. When you enrole into Univercity the courses vary in years, most courses after two years you recieve a Certificate, if you continue for a further year you recieve Diploma and on mo year for a Degree. While others you can only recieve Certificates and Diplomas, and the rest such as medicine last up to seven years. Once you finish College it is much easier to score a better job.
