The Skerries/Guichen Twinning Events, 2001 - 02


March 2001
A small group went from Skerries to Guichen to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

June 2001
Skerries hosted a group of 20 teenagers and three leaders from the Canton for a six-day programme of sports and cultural activities, with the emphasis on European friendships. It had been planned that this would be a tri-partite meeting, with a group of 20 expected from Milevsko. It was a great disappointment that due to financial constraints the Czech group had to withdraw at the last minute.

March 2002
Over 30 Guichen visitors, including many who were coming for the first time, arrived to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. The Parade, but not the enthusiasm, was dampened by very inclement weather. The Bretons marched with flags, shirts and bonhomie and at the end could be seen sheltering at the church door still singing and joined for the photographs by some local wenches decked out in very colourful costumes. Keane's Bus Bar then provided shelter and Hot Grog
