Skerries/Guichen Twinning Events, 2004

Unveiling of Twinning Signs
For some years it has been felt that we should erect twinning signs at the three entrances to the town, in order to highlight our links with Guichen. Following somewhat protracted plans we formally unveiled the signs on a sunny Sunday in January. Peter Ayton, our Chairperson did the honours and the group returned to Skerries Mills, where a small reception was hosted by the Committee. Peter thanked the committee members for their work in achieving the goal, and Fingal County Council for their financial and practical help in the erection of the signs. Short speeches were made by Deputy Trevor Sargent and Deputy Seán Ryan, both of whom stressed the importance of keeping the link with Europe alive, particularly in view of the forthcoming enlargement of the European Union.

We hope that the signs will draw attention to the fact that the twinning with Guichen exists and that more people will become interested in becoming involved in the STTA.

Annual St Patrick's Day Parade, 2004
Members of the STTA took part in the annual St Patrick's Day Parade in Skerries this year. While we were without our usual French contingent, a good showing was made by committee members and friends with our flags.

10th. Anniversary
We are looking forward to hosting approximately 40 French visitors in August, when we will celebrate the 10th. Anniversary of the Official Twinning Ceremony in Skerries. A big effort will be made to bring new members into the group for this celebration and to contact old friends who remember the wonderful weekend in August, 1994

Holiday in Brittany
Would you like to rent a holiday home in Brittany this summer? The brother of one of the CRIC committee members has holiday homes to rent, in the countryside near Dinan, this summer. If you are interested the web-site is www.gitedarmor.com/les-touches. It might be worth a look!
