I arrived in Leeds at 7am on a Friday morning having left Galway the previous day at 4.30pm.I hadn't got much sleep on the bus as we travelled through England overnight through a combination of excitement and the difficulty of sleeping on a bus.I was fairly OK when we arrived but tiredness gradually came over me.

I had problems trying to get my BritRail pass in the railway station in Leeds with the ticket I had been given in Galway before I left but a couple of phone calls to the railway station back in Galway and about an hour later everything was sorted out.

Having set myself up for my travels I decided to head for my hotel a couple of miles from the centre of Leeds.I had got a map of Leeds and details of where to get the bus from the tourist office beside the railway station. At the top of the page is a photograph I took out the window of the hotel showing the cricket ground in Leeds.

I spent the afternoon exploring the city of Leeds which has an abundance of shops in its main shopping area.By accident I came across a Leeds United shop(not surprising considering where I was) and I asked if it was far to the football stadium in Elland Road.I was told it was only a short bus ride away so I decided to go and have a look.

There wasn't much sign of activity there except for a few youngsters in Leeds United gear who looked as if they were coming from a training session.Below is a picture of one end of the football stadium.

That evening I was very tired and stayed in the hotel and chatted to a resident who had been at a rugby union match in the rugby ground beside the cricket ground. That was the end of an exhausting but enjoyable day.
