GREEN FLAG IS RAISED IN WHITECHURCH

John Teacy is a great runner. John Treacy has raised the green flag. The green flag is all about keeping our school clean. We got the got green flag from Dublin.

Day of Action

Alissa

We had a day of action on Tuseday. We trimmed the grass. We picked up barkmulch and pulled up dead bits of grass of the curb. We did it before lunch and after. We had a different job after lunch. We got a number and we went into that team. We wore our old clothes. We finished about 1 o'clock.

The Play

We were doing a play on the 7th of April. Our play was called The Big Top Circus. Stephen and I were  Raymond and Lucinda. My friends were Acrobats. Alissa was Bonzo. She had a big part in the play. Stephen and I were always fighting in the play.

The Shed

Elaine

Outside we painted our shed and now it looks like you are under the sea. Lindsey supervised the work and helped us, but we did most of  it. Everyone in the school did a bit. It is for a competition and a lot of schools are doing it. Our shed used to be brown and yellow but now it looks much better. I really hope we win because we put a lot of effort into it. So if we win it would be one of the best days I ever had.

The Day of Action

Lauren

We cleaned the yard and cut the grass, and moved branches from the trees. On Friday John Treacy came to put the Green Flag up. We got sweets. When we were putting the green flag up it was raining.

Projects

Kealan

Our teacher decided that we should do projects. We could work on  our own or with a partner . I wanted to do it on my own. We were allowed do the project about whatever we wanted. I picked tractors. I looked up the internet for the history of tractors and I took pictures of my father's two tractors.

School Tests

Sinead

School tests started 19th of  May 2003. 1st and 2nd class get English and Maths. 3rd and 4th  get English, Maths and Irish. 5th and 6th class get English, Maths, Irish and Geography. The infants get word tests. You see, tests are very important.

Evie wrote this poem about her dog. She wrote it for her project.

Junior is my favourite dog.

He is black and white,

He stays with Grandad in the day,

And comes up to me at night.

This poem was written by Tony Bradman. It is called "Ibble Obble", and it is great fun to say it aloud. We learned it recently in 1st and 2nd Class. It is about meeting an alien. What would you say to an alien if you met one? How about...

I once met an alien who said this to me:

Ibble obble bibble bobble bobble bibble ip

Dibble Dobble zing bang bop bibble bibble zip

zibble zabble I like scrabble

Dibble wibble dip

Ibble obble bibble bobble

dibble nibble ip

And I simply had to agree.

Why not try to make up your own alien conversation?

Sunday on the farmyard.

The letters of the words of this poem got mixed up. The first letter of some words has got mixed up with the first letter of the next word. It sounds very very funny.

The mat ceowed, the mow cooed,

The bog darked, the kigeon pooed,

The squicken chuaked, the surds bang.

The quck dacked, the burch rells chang.

And then after all dacking and changing,

The chacking and the banging,

the darking and pooeing,

The keowing and the kooing

There was a meautiful boment

of queace and pieate.

Our team was made up of Brian, Keith, James, David, James, Conor and Seán. We lost four one. Keith scored our only goal from a free kick in the last minute. It was a quick match with people coming on and off.

RUNNING

Every year all different schools enter a competition for running in the Friary. On the first night Whitechurch NS did very well. On Wednesday the 27th we will be running in the Friary again. Whoever comes first, second and third will receive a medal  and that will be the end of the running in the Friary for this year.

This year we are going to Limerick University for our school tour on the 30th of May. As some people know we went to Kilkenny Castle and Splash World last year which turned out to be very good.
This year we will be doing activities such as canoeing, rafting, swimming in new olympic size swimming pool, diving, indoor bowls, archery, a soccer shoot out and lots more.
