[597] Possibly the same "George W. Kelley" who enlisted on June 18, 1861 inCo. A of the 6th Ohio Infantry in the Civil War. He was divorced fromhis wife Mary Ann Stevens. Alla M. Baker's 1934 letter to Louis Kellyindicated that George Kelly served in the Civil War in Co. E,Elizabethtown, Ohio, 1861; he died Jun. 9, 1916 and is buried inSoldiers Circle in Greendale, IN.

Peter Mullan worked as an auctioneer and may have had a shoeshop. He was from Tedavnet/Tydavnet, NW of Monaghan town, nearScotstown in Co. Monaghan. He apparently was associated with a pub inMonaghan town that was run by a lady friend of his. (Peter Mullan waswidowed rather young, not long after the birth of daughter Dympna. Henever remarried.) Richard Quigley, his father-in-law, was said tohave owned a pub in Monaghan town, possibly the same one. Peter'soccupation on his daughter's birth record was "spirit dealer" on ParkSt., Monaghan.
Peter Mullan's mother may have been a SLOANE, since his daughterAlice (known now as Aunt Alice) had a cousin named Betty Sloane.(Betty married a Farley; she taught Irish dancing and ended up livingin the USA.)
There was a Peter Mullen family in Aghabog civil parish nearNewbliss, Co. Monaghan.--There was believed to be some familyconnection to him.
Mullan (Muileann) means "the mill" and is a location name. From "TheMonaghan Story" by Livingstone, p. 418: "Of course there wereindustries existing in the county before 1932, some of them pre-datedthe est. of the state and others sprang up in the twenties. Perhapsthe most outstanding of these was Mullan Mills, near Emyvale. Mullan,according to tradition, had been a centre of the linen industry in the18th century and early 19th centuries. Later it was known for themanufacture of Bullock Irish Serge. Then the village lay idle anddeserted for many years. In 1924 land was purchased there and aprivate company formed... The village was re-built and in June 1925the new factory began producing boots. At the beginning the industryproduced 2,500 pairs of boots a week--20 key workers and 30 localswere employed. By Oct. 1925, 80 were employed. It specialised inheavy and med. footwear, the Mill Brand and the Border Brand. Boylanstook over the plant in 1944. James Boylan, of Tiravera, Glaslough,began making pipes and tiles in 1926 and employed 20 men....Also inClones, Greenans made tiles and Hendersons made clogs."

David Stone is not buried with his second wife in Schuyler co., andnot in Chemung co., but probably was buried in Connecticut. Hemarried his first wife Temperence Chittenden abt. 1785 and they had adaughter Amanda, b. 1787 in New Milford, CT. Then in abt. 1795 hemarried second wife Abbey ____, b. 1773. In 1800, David & Abbey wereliving next door to Giles Chittenden (first father-in-law), and inclose proximity to David's brother Wells, his father Asahel, brotherIsaac, uncle Reuben, uncle? Benjamin and a Joel Stone (and not farfrom Noah Loveridge, whose daughter would marry David's son.) David &2nd wife Abbey probably first had son Truman in 1800 and then sonGarry in 1804.
David and Abbey also had another son, Jerome, who settled near Garry,in Elmira, NY & was married to Emeline (from New Milford, CT Hist.Soc. files). "David J. Stone" was found living in Dix, Chemung co.,married to Emeline (per 1850 census). - This could be David JeromeStone, since the age was close; maybe he was the "Jerome" written inthe New Milford records.
Garry has a number of ties to Litchfield co., CT, which support theconnection to David Stone. David Stone was apparently named afterDavid Beardsley, his maternal grandfather.
Also in the same cemetery as Garry Stone was the family of a youngerDavid Stone who may have been related.
