Summary of research on Kate KNIGHT:
John KNIGHT, b. Aug. 27, 1807 in Orange co., NY or in Westchester co.,NY (depending on the census). John KNIGHT d. Jan. 22, 1889 and isburied in Glenwood Cemetery, Watkins Glen, NY. His wife was SusanMaria _____ who was born in Orange co., NY about 1813. Susan died Sep23, 1875 and is buried in Highland Cem. in Orange co., NY (so says theGlenwood Cem. list).
*1850 Hector Census - John KNIGHT (age 41), a miller, with wife SusanM., (35). (These ages vary a bit depending on source.)
*1855 Hector Census - John KNIGHT (48), b. Westchester co., NY & SusanM. (42) b. Orange co., NY.
*1860 Hector Census (Orange P.O.) - John KNIGHT (53) and Susan M.(46). It is odd that Kate is not listed with them, as she was born in1858/ 1859 & should have been age 1 yr. Given the age of John & Susan,I wonder if Kate might have been an adopted child, since she wasapparently an only child. The relationships were not given in 1870,and the 1875 census called her simply "dtr".
Note: 1860 Hector Census - 7 families before John & Susan Knighthousehold was a Jerusha McDow age 62 living with a 1 year old namedCatherine, a pauper. Jerusha is pauper also because she is only worth$40. She was born in New Jersey as were John and Susan's neighbors,John and Abigail Kinnan. In 1870 Jerusha is living with AbigailKinnon age 83 and without the child Catherine. Jerusha is listed as apauper...chances are she is sister? of Abigail? and there is a youngerwoman there also among others.

This Kate was exactly the right age to be my gr-gr-grandmother KateKNIGHT WYATT who lived in Hector when she was first married between1875 & 1880 to Abram P. WYATT, b. 1856.
*1880 Hector Census (3rd district) - Kate (KNIGHT) WYATT, age 21,with her husband Abram P. WYATT, age 24, b. PA, and their eldestchild, daughter Nora WYATT, age 1. Kate and Abram had 5 or 6children. Nora married 1st Samuel CHESLEY of the Hector area andlater married Charley LOCKE and lived in Odessa, NY. Nora's sisterwas Edith WYATT, b. 1881, who married George RECKORD and lived inMontour Falls most of her life; Kate KNIGHT was mentioned as Edith'smother on her death certificate. Another child of Kate KNIGHT WYATTwas (Mary) Alice WYATT, b. 1883, who married 1st Charles CHESLEY(brother of Samuel) and later married Harry NICHOLS. Kate's 2 sonswere Clarence WYATT, b. about 1885 and Joseph WYATT, b. 1889 /1890 -both Clarence and Joseph ended up in the Alfred, Allegany co., NYarea. Another child was probably Florence, who was living with & nearAbram P. Wyatt in W. Almond, NY in 1910 & 1920. Not known when Katedied or where she is buried.
1900 - Kate WYATT was found living alone in Montour twp, Schuyler co.,NY in 1900. She was a domestic, age 41, born Dec. 1858, married 22years, 6 children with 6 living, b. NY, parents b. NY, renting herhome. The number of children, age, approx. marriage date, etc. were amatch for our Kate Knight Wyatt. She was listed as married, ratherthan widowed, so it appears she was separated from her husband Abram.Plus her 10-yr-old son Joseph was living with his sister in Hector,NY. Her daughters Nora & Edith (both married with children) wereliving in the same house in Hector, NY at the time of the 1900 census.In 1900 it is not known where Abram, Clarence or Florence wereliving.
Kate KNIGHT may have died before 1910, since her widower husband Abramwas found in West Almond, Allegany co., NY on the 1910 census. Ibelieve Kate and family were living in Geneva, NY for some time after1880. She might be buried there.
[1724] Found a note that Ontario co., NY contains an obit for a Mrs.Katherine Marie Wyatt - died 2 Mar 1946 - would be age 83 if it's thesame person.
