Sept. 1899 - Edith gives birth to daughter Grace /"Maudie".
Dec. 1899 - Edith (age 18 or 19) married Charles G. W. Bennett (ageabout 35).
On 1900 Hector, NY census, Edith (WYATT) was called Mrs. EdithBENNETT, wife of William BENNETT (b. Sep. 1866) - they had beenmarried for less than one year in June 1900. "Maudie G. BENNETT" b.Sep. 1899, age 8 months, was listed with them (we know her as GraceMaude RECKORD) - all 3 were boarders in the Samuel Chesley householdin Hector, NY - living with Edith's sister Nora Wyatt Chesley(Samuel's wife).
1901 -A marriage record was found online for George "Rickard" toAdaline Burgess in Ontario co., NY. It was the same day that Stephen"Rickard" married Phoebe Zall. [We know that Stephen Reckord wasbrother of George M. Reckord and that Stephen was married to Phoebe,so seems to be a match.] Oddly, Adaline Record was listed as wife ofGeorge M. Reckord's father Stephen (married 9 years). But George wasin another house nearby, alone, listed as married for 9 years.Something is strange about this. Were there 2 Adalines ? Did hemarry her twice ?
1903 - trying to determine if Edna (b. April 1903) was daughter ofCharles/ William Bennett, though she was called Edna Reckord later on.
1905 - Adaline Burgess Reckord died (possibly married to GeorgeReckord of Geneva) so George Reckord might not have married EdithWyatt until after 1905, making Edna's father Chas. Wm. Bennett.
Dec. 1909 - there was a George M. Reckord (son of Stephen) who died inMontour Falls and was buried in Geneva, NY. Edith Wyatt was notlisted as widow, but the timing fits. George was living alone at thetime, apparently separated, having moved from Geneva about 2 monthspreviously. George was listed as a widower, which might be referringto Adaline Burgess Reckord's death in 1905, if that is correct.
1910 - "Edna Record" was on Montour Census in the Willis Misnerhousehold, listed as "ad. daughter", with Margaret Miller. Edna wasage 7, which fits. Same year saw Nora & Sam Chesley living next toHarry Smith household, where Grace (Bennett) Reckord was raised as afoster daughter. Grace went to live there around 1911 /1912. Grace &Edith have not been found on 1910 census.
1911 Marriage announcement, Schuyler Chronicle (8 June 1911):
Edith WYATT of Watkins was married to James GRAY of Watkins on Mon., 5June 1911, at the M.E. Parsonage, Watkins, by Rev. F.W. Sessions.Marriage registration book says it was her 1st marriage, but this wasfalse.
In 1912, "Edith RECKORD" (of the town of Dix) was present in Schuylercourthouse with "legitimate daughter Edna A. RECKORD", b. 1903, asEdna was being adopted by the Nathan Lambert family of Burdett, NY.Edith used the "Reckord" surname for the rest of her life and never"Gray". The Gray marriage was probably very short.
On 1920 census, "Edith RECKORD" was listed as a housekeeper with EvlynSPIELMAN (age 62, widower) and their daughter Minnie Spielman (age 49/12) in the Town of Montour.
1921 - The name Edith "WOYOTF" appeared to be written clearly on herdaughter Grace Reckord's marriage record, but this turned out to beWYATT (written with loopy handwriting). George Reckord was listed asher father, but this was false.
1925 - From family info passed on: Evlyn died in 1925, leaving Edithwithout support, and Minnie was eventually adopted by a KNOX family ofGeneseo, NY. She mentioned older half-sisters Edna Reckord and GraceReckord = daughters of "Edith W. (Wyatt) Reckord".
1927 - Edith's daughter Minnie Spielman was sent to live with hersister Edna in NY. Minnie was later adopted when this arrangement wasunsuitable.
On 1930 census, Edith "RECORD" was a housekeeper with Leon WHITTAKER(age 43, married) & Edith was age 48, a widow. Leon was a farmlaborer. They lived in the Town of Montour on Fitzpatrick Road(renting). Leon appeared to be a match for Leon Whitaker on the 1920census of Troy, Bradford co., PA - in 1920 he was age 33, married, butnot living with his wife; he was a boarder with no occupation listed.
c.1944 /1945 - Edith wrote a note to daughter Grace who was living inAuburn, NY. Edith probably was in Montour Falls, where she died in1956.
1956 - living at 219 W. Main in Montour Falls - died in March 1956.
[23] Died of a heart attack. Her death cert. gave her parents as AbramWYATT and Kate KNIGHT.
[24] The funeral home supplied a metal funeral plaque at the burial, and asmall stone was added in April 1998 by her grandson: "Edith W. Reckord1881 - 1956"
