Adult Education Courses
 | Musical Literacy: Adults who wish to become
musically literate may enrol for this weekly two-hour class.
Adult Education Courses in - The History of Opera, Irish Music & Culture, - subject to
demand. Duration: 10 two-hour sessions one night per week.

Individual Tuition
| A limited number of vacancies may arise for
individual tuition in Singing, Speech, Theory of Music and certain instruments. Enquiries
about vacancies are welcome at any time. |
Recitals and Concerts in the
Curtis Auditorium
| A wide-ranging series of recitals
and concerts throughout the year, take place in the attractive Curtis Auditorium and in
venues throughout the City of Cork. Please request the Music Diary distributed free by the
School of Music.

Choral Groups
Adults are welcome to apply for membership of any
of the coral & instrumental groups. Where balance of number is
important applicants may be required to audition.
Fleischmann Choir
| The group specialises in singing large-scale works
for choir and orchestra. It is a mixed-voice choir. Rehearsals:
Monday evenings from 7.45p.m.-10.15p.m. Conductor: Dr
Geoffrey Spratt. |
Youth Choir
| The Choir acts as a bridge between the Schools'
Junior Choirs and the Fleischmann Choir for choristers aged form 14 to 18. Rehearsals:
Tuesday evenings from 8.30p.m.-10.00p.m. Conductor: Alan Cutts. |
Instrumental Groups
Concert Band
| The music performed embraces the standard
repertory for concert band as well as arrangements of popular classics and new music for
wind band. Rehearsals: Saturday mornings from 11.00a.m.-1.00a.m. Conductor: Bernard Casey,
Acting Head of Wind, percussion, Singing, Speech and Drama. |
Jazz Big Band
| This 20-piece ensemble plays music from the old
charts and explores the contemporary scene. Competent musicians between 16-25 are welcome
to apply. Rehearsals: Saturday afternoons from 2.00pm-5.00p.m. Director: John O'Connor. |
Symphony Orchestra
| The orchestra performs the standard 19th-and
20th-century literature for large orchestra. Rehearsals: Tuesday nights from
7.45p.m.-10.15p.m. Conducted by:: Adrian Petcu, Head of Strings. |
