Indian Head massage is based on ancient Ayurvedic healing techniques. It is one of the most widely practiced complementary therapies in the West and involves massaging the head, face, neck, shoulders and upper back.
Head massage has long been an integral part of Indian life; men would often receive a head massage as part of their grooming at the barbers and women would routinely rub warm, richly scented oils into each other’s hair and scalp as a part of a normal beauty routine.
Indian head massage is deeply relaxing, which can prove to be a powerful preventive medicine in today’s often stress-choked, fast-paced lifestyle.
The treatment involved in this stimulating massage has been developed from concentrating solely on the head and scalp, to one incorporating a deep upper back massage, then working across the shoulders, neck, upper arms, stimulating the scalp, the ears, and finally finishing with some facial movements. |
