ORDERLY OFFICERS REPORT
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ARMY OFFICER
The following is a copy of a report of the day in a life of an army
officer in Fermoy camp in 1915.

Kilworth Camp
2/6/1915
As Orderly Officer I performed the following duties: -
- I inspected the Guard at Guard Mounting at 9.0 a.m. The men were clean and well turned out.
- I inspected the Old Guard before dismounting at 9.15 a.m. All were correct.
- I attended the issue of rations at 7.0, 8.45, 12.30 and 4.0. The meat and bread were of good quality and in proper quantity.
- I turned out the Guard at 10.30 by day and at 11.30 by night. All were present, alert and regular.
- I visited the Hospital at 11.0, am. The patients have no complaints.
- I visited the Canteen and grocery Bar at 12.30 and found all correct.
- I inspected the meat for the following day's issue at 12 noon. It was of good quality.
- I visited the Cook-houses and Wash-houses at 11.30 am and found them clean and regular.
- I collected the reports at Tattoo. Seventeen men were reported absent.
- I saw Lights Out at 9.45 p.m.
- I did not quit the camp during my tour of duty.
