The original Clare Island Survey conducted over eighty years ago
provides us with an indispensable baseline with which to gauge the rate and nature of
environmental change which has occurred during this century.
In addition, numerable other
studies have taken place on the island, including the on-going New Survey of Clare Island (1989-2000). We are in
the process of building a natural history database. What appears in the following webpages
are summaries of some of the work which has been carried out.
We encourage anyone who is
interested in a specific area, who may be interested in carrying out work themselves,or
has information which they would like to contribute to these pages, to contact us.
