8 Club Members participated in the Border Track, which took place over Saturday and Sunday last and covered 100 miles each day. Keith Murphy however cycled an extra 50 miles each way to raise money for the Help Daniel Campaign and our Congratulations to him on his achievement. (Funds can still be donated to this worthy cause by contacting Keith). Keith's intake of iron in the form of pints of Guinness no doubt helped him cover the extra miles, and we would recommend that Guinness employ him to advertise any future sporting events sponsored by them.?

All members thoroughly enjoyed the cycle despite the repeated heavy showers - Saturday spin started in Enniskillen to Fintona-Omagh Belleek Ballyshannon Bundoran and finished in Sligo. A meal and refreshments were enjoyed by all.

Sunday spin left Sligo RTC at 8.15am proceeded through scenic Strand Hill-Carrick on Shannon-Ballinamore-Bawnboy-Ballyconnell-Derrylin and finished in Enniskillen.

Congratulations to all participants, especially Keith Murphy, Barry Murray, Fergus Murray, Paul Hughes, Tommy Martin, Seamus McElroy, Kevin Treanor and John Doran. The Club were also joined by Seamus's Blazing saddle friend Jim Kenwright.

The Cycling Club is planning a cycling event in August with the aim of encouraging more people to cycle especially the novice cyclist. Proceeds from this event will go to a local charity shortly to be announced.
Regular spins continue on Sunday morning at 9.30am. Tuesday and Thursday evening cycle starts at 6.45pm from the Leisure Centre and are ideal for beginners.

Saturday last saw the Ulster Senior road race championships held in Richill Co Armagh Paul Brady was the clubs only particapant Paul still only a junior finished 10th overall in this senior event and took first junior well done Paul.

Sunday seen 3 of our members enter in the Tour of the Sperrins Paul Brady Connor Murphy ,Jonathan Gormely .On this hilly 110 km race Emyvale CC riders where to the fore. A break got away on the second last climb and disaster struck for Connor at the bottom of the climb when he got a flat wheel . After a change of wheel which seemed to take forever Connor got back on his bike and there was a gap of 2 minutes plus between the break and him going over the top of the climb Connor got the bit between his teeth and finished 4th only 30 sec behind the winner Denis Easton from Belfast .

Paul Brady again took 1st unplaced junior to finish off a teriffic weekend for him and the club. Paul who for some reason has been overlooked in selection for any Ireland teams this year is proving to the selectors he should be on a
team. The only race this week is the All Ireland Senior Road Race Championship Connor and Jonathan will be the clubs only members entering this tough race.
Best of luck to both.
