The Studio Lamps |
||
|
The TV Studio can be seen as a large dark black space where artificial lighting is needed to see anything and where a pre-determined level of light on a subject is necessary for its image to register satisfactorily on a TV Camera. Many different lamps have been designed to facilitate lighting in a studio environment not just for lighting people, backgrounds, and effects but there are now intelligent lamps that can be individually programmed to be an entertaining performance in their own right. To light a single subject, say a programme presenter, three lamps are required, namely a Key Light, Soft Light (Fill Light) and a Back Light. The background to the presenter or set will require a separate lamp or group of lamps. In a simple news programme with one or two presenters the number of lamps could be as many as Twelve or more. Suspending the lamps from a grid is the only way of keeping the studio floor clear for Cameras and other operational equipment. In the interests of safety all suspended/hanging lamps are secured to their telescope, pantograph or bar with a safety chain and lamp fittings such as barn doors, gel holders/colour frames, gobo cradles, etc. are fitted with braided wire safety lanyards.
