Tibet - Large
The large images can be browsed below. You may switch to another photo viewing method by choosing one of the icons above. Or you can select the images of another country from the list, also above.

The roof of the great Jokhang Temple, Lhasa. It is Tibet's most sacred place of worship.

From the roof of the Jokhang Temple you can see over to the Potala Palace.

The Potala Palace, Lhasa, the winter residence of the Dalai Lama. One of the world's greatest buildings.

The remarkable leathery faces of pilgrims at a religious festival in the hills near Lhasa.

Notice the woman on the right and see why people think Native Americans came from the Asia, maybe even from Tibet!

Prayer flags encompass a view of the Potala.

The Tibetan Everest base camp at 5,200 metres (18,100 feet). It is possible to drive up all the way to it, our Landcruiser can be seen on the right.

From the world's highest monastery can be seen the dramatic north face of Mt. Everest (a tad overexposed on this shot).

A view from Tingri, 4,000m. The triangular peak a little to the right of the chimney is Everest. This is the view of Everest that you get from the famous toilet.

The red building is part of a monastery. The white structure beside it is a communal toilet. Imagine 15 monks using that at the same time!

Two dogs in Shigatse, Tibet's second largest town.
