Aquamarine

Aquamarine is a variety of beryl, a mineral group that includes emerald, morganite and heliodor. The main deposits are found in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Brazil, India and Russia. It has a hexagonal crystal habit and is a hard gemstone making it a good choice for jewellery that is worn frequently.
It is colored by trace amounts of iron that find their way into the crystal structure.
The leading producer of aquamarines is Brazil, which has many mines. Pakistan and many U.S. localities, produce wonderful specimens as well.
