FluoriteFluorite gets its name from the element Fluorine, and/or Fluorescence as this mineral commonly fluoresces blue under ultraviolet light. Fluorite is a soft, translucent to transparent mineral. While it comes in many colors, it is most commonly purple or pale green. It may be beautifully banded in white, green and purple. It was often carved into beautiful figures or vases. The ancient Romans, who admired purple, carved vases from Fluorite , and many fluorite artifacts were found in the ruins of Pompeii.
