Verdite Verdite is a member of the mica group that is often used for carvings and jewellery. Although it's a member of the mica group, it has no cleaveage and therefore easy to carve. Verdite can be easily worked with woodworking files and saws and takes a fantastic polish with tin oxide. The green coloring of verdite is unusual for carving material. Verditein its natural form is no longer being exported outside Africa and is now difficult to obtain. We may not be able to get more tumbled stoneswhen our current supply is gone.
A fairly rare gem and the few known deposits are found in the Barberton district of South Africa, where gold was first found.
