Preparations are ongoing for the Royal Summer Ball and tonight took up much of this topic.  Tickets were issued and members are reminded to initial the back of the tickets as they are sold.

1st

As we prepare for the 'serious' side of showing off our photographs we started our first competition with the pictures taken on the 15th May in Glendalough.  Adrian O'Brien was our Judge on the night as he is well respected in the profession and our gratitude is extended to him.  Just to remind you our task was to enter one Round Tower shot and one Nature shot.

It seemed to be a tough night for Adrian who poured over the 32 images for an hour but finally our waiting was over and everyone was admitted back into the 'examination' room where we each received our very constructive criticism.  Many thanks and congratulations to all who entered - your work is much appreciated.

As ever there are the main winners - Congratulations to:

Junior Section -  1st Eliot Case
Intermediate   -  1st Paul Sheedy
Senior             -  1st Colum D'Alton

Intellectual night tonight as Colum prepared a crossword for us, all answers with a photographic connection. Good fun and kept us quiet for a change! You can find the crossword here

Not very pleasant weather for taking night photos as planned unfortunately. Not to worry - had a great slide show instead giving members a chance to show their work in bulk and newer members the endless possibilities of photography.

The Junior Members (under 16s) Competition was launched tonight also. The category is 'Your Pet' and closing date is Wednesday 15th June.

15th

The Society headed off in search of  the first leg of their competition photos - the location - the picturesque valley of Glendalough; the aim - to take one image of the Round Tower and one image of nature.  It was a beautiful summers day with luck on our side getting parking spaces in the upper car park.  Those who weren't driving had the opportunity to sample the local pub's wares before hitting the road home!  Photos to be in on the 25th May.

11th

Tonight we took advantage of the marvels of technology with a Digital Slide Show. Members presented discs with their photos and we also watched a copy of the recent FIAP awards disc full of the top photos from European Clubs and Societies at the moment.
