In 1880 (per census) he was living at home and working as a machinist(probaby at Shepard Niles Hoist & Crane co.) He was President of theChester-Giles Hook & Ladder & Chemical Engine Co. (org. Dec. 21, 1891)- Pictured in a group photo in the back room at Montour Falls library,with fireman's uniform. Lived in NY City for a time. Buried inMontour Cemetery.
In 1910, Seward and wife Mary BARNS were living in the household ofHawley W. BARNES on Broadway St. in Montour. Seward & Mary weremarried for 3 yrs. in 1910 with no children. (Never had children.)In 1910 Seward was a painter & paper-hanger. Later, in the 1930s &early 1940s, he ran a Mobile station (with flying red horse logo).
