The Community Education Service within the City of Cork VEC/AEB is targeted at those individuals or groups who experience disadvantage in their capacity to participate in and progress in the field of education and training.
To support these individuals and groups, the Adult Education Board, through its Adult Community Education fund, allocated in excess of 8,000 teaching hours in 2001 to Community Education providers within the City of Cork
The White Paper on Adult Education[1] outlined criteria to further empower Community Groups by:
In response to this policy 10 Area based Networks were established in the City of Cork during 2001.
