TOP ACES COME TO INTERVARSITY CHAMPIONSHIPS HOSTED BY ITT TRALEE.
Institute
Technology Tralee is hosting the Intervarsity Handball
Championships on the 8th, 9th and 10th February. It is expected
that a 100 players will take part in various competitions over
the weekend. The games will begin on Friday afternoon and will
continue (except for short social sojourns ie sleep) until Sunday
afternoon. Eoin Kennedy from Dublin and other International
players will be representing their colleges. All the games will
be played in The Sports Complex, Tralee and Ballymacelligott
Handball Club.
Competitions
will be held in A singles, B singles, ladies singles an A team
event and a B team event.
The team events are traditionally the highlight of the weekend.
IT Tralee has a strong A team this year: Brendan Fleming
from Ballydesmond, Ollie Cassidy from Mayo and three
Ballymacelligott players Clive Counihan, Aidan O Donoghue
and Johnny Griffin.
The college
handball committee are having a Banquet in the Brog Inn on Saturday
night the 10th February. Guinness is sponsoring the tournament
shirts and each participant will receive one. Lee Strand is
sponsoring the Tralee college team and Centra are supplying
the rolls for Friday and Saturday.
Games were
played in Abbeydorney, Tralee and Ballymacelligott from 12.00pm
Friday 8th February.

The quarterfinals in the singles will take place today as will
the team events. The ITT Tralee has teams in the A and B events.
Games commence this morning at 9.00am
The finals
will be played on Sunday morning in Tralee.
