Ballymacelligott Handball Club News 27th January 2002

The Club is posting all competitions and entry forms on the club notice board. It is the responsibility of each player to ensure that he/she is entered for all competitions. Entries required for the following competitions in the next few weeks:
· Irish Nationals
· Community Games Girls and boys' teams for U13 and U15 on 1/8/2002.
· County Doubles.
· Gael Linn mixed Doubles.
· County B Championships.

The first weekend of Juvenile Singles County Finals were held in the Sports complex, Tralee on Saturday 26th January. In all 35 games were played in the age groups from U10 to U13 inclusive. The following are the successful players from our Club:
U10 Girls Final.: Winner Anne Casey

U12 Boys Final. Winner Cian Counihan

U12 Girls Final. Winner Sharon Twomey

U13 Boys Runner-up: Aaron O Halloran

U13 Girls Final. Winner Brenda Carmody
We congratulate all our players who represented our Club on the day and wish our representatives next week every success.
Girls and boys singles from U14 to U17 inclusive will be held next Saturday in Glenbeigh.

On Sunday last, in Clarecastle the Ladies Munster colleges finals were held. Kerry colleges were successful as follows and all the girls are members of the Ballymacelligott Handball Club.

First year girls.
Ashley Prendiville (Presentation Convent, Tralee) defeated Ann Marie Hourihan (Tipperary) 15/1, 15/3. First year competition is run to Provincial Level only and congratulations to Ashley on winning this competition.

Girls Junior Singles :
Maria Daly (Presentation Convent Castleisland) defeated Karen Collins (Tipperary).

Girls Junior Doubles :
Sandy McSwiney & Catriona Casey (Presentation Convent,Tralee) defeated Rebecca Kelly & Teresa McGuane (Clare) 15/1, 15/10.

All Ireland Semi-Finals and Finals will take place in Croke Park on Saturday 16th February 2002 at 12.00pm.

Intervarsity Handball Championships
Institute Technology Tralee is hosting the Intervarsity Handball Championships on the 8th, 9th and 10th February. It is expected that a 100 players will take part and our courts will be used on the Friday and Saturday. It should be a very enjoyable weekend for everyone interested in Handball. The IT Tralee A team consists of three Ballymacelligott players: Clive Counihan, Aidan O Donoghue and Johnny Griffin.

The Handball Club wishes to extend their best wishes and congratulations to John Lenihan and Eoin Leen on their success at the Kerry All Stars last weekend.
