Homework Club

The second term of the club will start on Monday 17th January 2005
and will continue for five weeks. The club takes place daily from
Monday to Thursday from 3 p.m. - 4 p.m. The cost is €50 for the
five weeks and can be paid in advance or in stages. However a deposit
of €20 is required to book a place.
Homework Tips
- Start your homework as early as possible. The later
you leave it, the longer it takes. ·
- Switch off the T.V. etc. Make sure there are no distractions.
French for Fun
The French for Fun Club has also just finished its first 10 week
term and will resume after Christmas. There are two classes on offer
- a beginners class for boys from 2nd - 4th class and a continuation
class for boys from 5th - 6th class. "French For Fun" is an opportunity
for boys to learn French through drama, art and music. The emphasis
is on spoken French and the main aims are to help the older boys
get ready for secondary school and realise that learning a foreign
language can be fun.
Accordion & Guitar
We have just come to the end of a very successful first term in
guitar and accordion lessons. Lessons are held after school on Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday after school for forty minutes. The boys attending
guitar lessons have picked up a lot of chords with a number of basic
strums. The accordion boys have learned a number of simple tunes.
Lessons will resume after Christmas and we will be aiming at performing
in the school concert later on in the year.
Piano Lessons
We are glad to have the services of Mrs. Kathleen Kelleher for
this extra - curricular activity. Lessons are given from beginners
to Grade 8. All boys are progressing very well and a number of boys
are preparing for their Royal Irish Academy Grade examinations.
For further enquiries phone the Principal at (056) 7761739.

I.T. News
We are very fortunate to have at our disposal in the school a state
of the art I.T. Room with fifteen brand new high spec Dell computers.
The room is multipurpose and is used for library, research and project
work. All children have regular access to the I.T. Room and really
enjoy publishing and displaying their work. The implementation of
the next phase of our I.T. plan will see the completion of the networked
system and the introduction of broadband to the school which will
facilitate high speed internet access. You will be informed more
about this at a later date.

Performing Arts Workshop
New to the extra curricular activity list this year is a performing
arts class with Jason Paul Ryan whom most will know from his " Your
a Star " appearances. The class consists of singing, drama and dance
which more and more young people are becoming interested in. The
first term was a huge success with all the available places being
filled. The students learned a number of songs combined with drama
and dance which they will perform for the rest of the school just
before Christmas. A particular favourite of the boys is the " Movies
Medley " which combines all elements of Performing Arts. The class
is primarily for fun through learning, but is also a great confidence
boost for those involved. The next term will commence in January
and the students will rehearse for an Easter performance.

Christmas Spirit
Thursday 25th November saw the boys from 2nd and 3rd classes join
together for a trip to the Watergate Theatre. A touring company
was producing " Santa and his Magic Sleigh". With lots of sing -
a - long songs and some colourful characters the boys enjoyed themselves
with the puppet Bikio a firm favourite with all. Mrs Moloney, Miss
Boyle, Miss Keating and Mrs Grace would like to thank all the boys
for their excellent behaviour during the trip.
