Céilí, Old time and Set
Dancing
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Mrs. Máiréad Blanchfield
for giving the boys the opportunity to take part in this extra -
curricular activity. Dancing is going well, the boys are having
great fun and are doing well. Máiréad says Grandmothers will be
very pleased that she has started "waltzing" with the boys from
3rd class.
Basketball
We are glad to have the services of Mr. J. Byrne for this extra
- curricular activity. The new term starts after Christmas and is
open to the boys from Room 10.
Chess Club
We are glad the boys have an opportunity to develop their chess
skills under the tuition of Mr. D. Polimac. Monday's class is for
beginners and Wednesday's class caters for pupils with more advanced
skills.
Art Class
We are grateful to the expertise of Mr. C O'Neill and Ms. C. Sloane
for these two classes. Children have an opportunity to develop drawing
skills, painting techniques and do some lovely craft work.

Golf Classic
Our golf classic which was held during the summer was a joint venture
between C.B.S. and St. Mary's parish. It was a great success and
we would like to thank our sponsors and the teams which took part.
The golf classic raised €3,864 in profit, half of which the school
received. This money together with a generous donation of €2,500
from the parent's council was invested in cameras and lighting for
the school in order to upgrade our security.

In-Service for Teachers
Teachers had three in - service days already this year. The first
was held on 20/10/04 in respect of the new religion programme for
6th classes. On 24/11/04 all teachers attended a day for music and
on 13/12/04 we had an in - school planning day with regard to the
English programme and our special needs policy. During 2005 the
teachers will have four more in - service days, two in respect of
music and two for P.E. We will inform you of these dates as soon
as we know.
