Gaelic Football
The school football team did well to reach the quarter-finals of
the Roinn A Schools' Football Championship having seen off the challenge
of Kilmanagh, Piltown, Ballyragget and Carrickshock. In the end
they qualified for a semi-final play-off with Inistioge whom they
had already beaten in an earlier meeting. However this extra game,
in energy-sapping wet conditions, proved to be a bridge too far
and they lost it by one point.
Full marks for skill, spirit and true grit to all the panel: Edward
Walsh, Rory Morrissey, Cian O'Halloran, Stephen Meany, Gary Lynch,
Sean Brennan, Keith O'Brien, James Gittens, Mark Croghan, Cathal
O'Leary, Donal Brennan, Keith Ruth, Noel Pesce, Patrick Cantwell,
Brian Murphy, Killian Cantwell, Colm Corcoran, Brendan Manning,
Gavin Bourke, Edward Buckley, Sean O'Callaghan and Anthony Bourke.
Indoor Hurling
On Friday 10th December a panel of eight boys from 4th class made
a short journey to O'Loughlin Gaels to compete in a one day hurling
blitz. Their first game was against old rivals St. Patrick's Boys
school where they had little trouble beating them by 14 goals to
5. Next up to face the mighty challenge was St. Canice's Co. Ed.
The boys sheer determination kept them in the lead right through
the match to see them eventually come out 13 goals to 7 winners.
The boys were rewarded with medals and refreshments after their
great victory. Heartiest congratulations to Kilian Cantwell (Captain),
Stefan Mesquita, James Hayden, Anthony Burke, David Kenny, Seán
Ó Callaghan, Adam Comerford, Jason Mahony and Dillon Doran. Ms Moloney
would also like to thank Edward Walsh, Cathal Ó'Leary, James Gittens,
Brian Murphy and Corey Ó'Neill for helping her to train the team
for the tournament. A word of thanks also to Mr. Mario Mesquita
and Mrs. Éilís Cantwell for providing transport on the day.

Jokes from Room 2
Why did the bull hit Santa?
Because he was wearing red.
What did the reindeer sing to Santa on his birthday?
F-reeze a jolly good fellow.
What do tigers sing at Christmas?
Jungle Bells, Jungle Bells...
My Christmas Poem
Christmas is neat.
Christmas is fun.
Christmas is for
Everyone.
Christmas night,
Is a child's delight,
As long as Santa
Doesn't give him a fright!
