Touring News

Last weekend saw the club taking part in a cycle run hosted by Omagh cycling club over a distance of 160k (106 miles). Seven members from the club took part, which included Barry Murray, Fergus Murray, Seamus Mc Elory, Pat Noonan, Gerard Sherry and new touring club members Norman Corrigian and Paul Brady!!! The event was very well organised with refreshments provided half way through the event and again at the end. Due to the bad weather, frequent hill climbs and high speed the event proved to be very challenging for all participants.

There was another great turn out on Sunday morning for the normal spin, which left Emyvale at 9.30am for those who did not travel to Omagh. The continuing Tuesday and Thursday night spins, which leave Emyvale at 6.45pm, provide the perfect chance for new cyclists to take part in low distance leisure spins.

Entry forms for the “HELL OF THE NORTH” will be provided for members who wish to take part. This event takes part on Sunday 31/8/02 and leaves Newry to travel along the coast to Derry and consists of a 222 mile spin in one day. That’s right 222 miles (352k) its not a misprint. The Omagh spin signified the start of the training for the five members wishing to take part, although this did not include George or Pantani who have opted for the secret training option.

There will be no spin this Sunday due to the All Ireland Championships. But there will be a spin on Saturday leaving Emyvale at 2.00pm. It would be greatly appreciated if all touring club members could make themselves available on Sunday at 10 oclock sharp for marshalling meet at Monaghan Harps G.A.A Grounds

We would like the best of luck to Connor Murphy, Paul Brady, Michael Mullholand, Tony Murphy and Brian Reynolds who will be taking part in the All Ireland Road Racing Championships which is to be hosted by Emyvale CC this weekend.
