Dalkey Walks
Historical points of interest:

St. George's
Built by George Ashlin in 1882

Killiney Obelisk
Erected by Colonel John Malpas in 1742 to provide employment during a particularly difficult winter.

Fork in the road with a small pillar in the middle
Go through the right exit of the car park. When you come to the fork in the road, continue straight, that is, take the road to the right. This road will take you into a wooded area.
Thus Daedalus Flew
After a few minutes you will come to a statue on your left called 'Thus Daedalus Flew', and a gate to your right. Go through the gate and cross the road to the other side. Once at the opposite footpath go left, and continue until you come to Glenalua road.
Now here we split into two different walks - 2a and 2b. They are both so good that I couldn't decide between them, so I did both! They both join each other again later, and as you may be able to see from the map; it is possible to do both parts if you want to.
Old stone pillars
2a Go up this road. You will be walking up here for a while, but keep a lookout on your left for an old wall and pillars - they are very easy to miss. Go through here, and down the short way to another road. This is St. George's Avenue.
A green gate with the words 'Killiney Hill' written in white
Go left, down the road. You will pass a magnificent house on the left called St. George's House. It is open to visitors 1st - 31st March and 1st May - 25th June, Monday to Friday 9am to 1pm. At the bottom of the road, go left, and up the hill. You will eventually come to a junction with Victoria Road. You should see some steps at the opposite side of the road to you. Continued...
A narrow passageway in the trees
2b Go up all the way to the end of this road. When you get to the end, you should see a private driveway going to the right, and a narrow passageway in the trees slightly to the left, in front of you. Go through this passageway. It will take you out into a field. Continue along the path. If you look at the map, you will see that eventually the path splits into two, take the one that goes right.
Claremont road
If you keep going along here, you will come out onto Claremont road, beside the Embassy of Pakistan. Go down the road, and at the bottom, turn right. You may recognise this road - you were on it near the beginning of the walk. If you walk along here you will see Glenalua road, which you also went up before, but you are not going up there this time. Keep walking a few metres more. The road splits in two in front of you. Before that happens, there should be steps on the opposite side of the road to you.
A nice view
2a+b Go up these steps, and then up the next flight of steps. At the top, go right. You should see a small area on your right - there is a nice view from here. Continue up the hill until it turns left. Again there is a very nice view if you go to the railing.
Pyramid
At the top of the hill, you should see an obelisk. Stay on the path that you are on, to the right side of the obelisk, and continuing slightly left, past a pyramid. There are some more nice views around this area.
The path has a few turns and steps
As you continue down the path, you will enter into a wooded area again. The path has a few turns and steps, and eventually ends-up at a crossroads.
Crossroads
Go left, along the path with trees on your right, and a grassy area on your left. A few minutes later you are back at the fork in the road we saw earlier. This time go right, back into the car park. I hope you enjoyed you walk!
