STONYRIDGE --WAIHEKE ISLAND,
Vintage 1998 for Red Wines in New Zealand has been hailed as one of the best this decade. The Stonyridge 1998 Hawkes Bay Merlot from Stephen White's winery is a superb wine. Deep dark purple black in colour with berry fruits, ripe plums and vanilla oak on the nose. Very intense flavours of spice, cassis, plum and cedary oak, backed by firm, but subtle tannins, on the palate.
