MILLTON VINEYARD POVERTY BAY - North Island
James and Annie Millton established their winery on the banks of the Te Arai River near Manutuke in 1984. This region is situated on the East Coast of the North Island of New Zealand in the winegrowing region known as Gisborne. No insecticide, herbicide, systematic fungicide or soluble fertiliser are used in the vineyard making the Milton Vineyard New Zealand's First commercial fully certified organic wine growers.
The Chenin Blanc has aromas of fragrant fruit and deep spice and with time this wine will develope into a bees/wax/honey taste and aromas.
The Semillon/Chardonnay is a crisp dry style blended for everyday enjoyment, while the Chardonnay Barrel Fermented has aromas of acacia flowers and has well intergrated oak tannins with balancing acidity and hints of spice on the palate.
The Opou Riesling is a well-balanced wine filled with melon flavours, some tropical fruit notes and crisp acidity.
Malbec Te Arai Vineyard is a new and invigorating red from the Milltons, made from an unsung Bordeaux variety that is idealy suited to New Zealand. Maturation in new and older large oak barrels has lent spice and vanilla tones to this wine with a smooth velvety texture. |
