Saving Energy We noticed that lots of classrooms left their lights on at break times, even though there was no one in the class, so we decided to keep a record of who kept their lights on, and wasting energy. At lunchtimes we went around every room in the school and checked if their lights were off. There was a great improvement from when we started and finished. We also checked that the taps weren’t left running, so we wouldn’t waste water. Evaluating
Energy We decided we needed to evaluate all the energy we had used over the past year, so we gathered up the electricity and oil bills and worked out all the energy we had used. Below are our results
We used the most amount of electricity in 14th October 2002- 13th December 2003. We hope to compare last years energy amount with the coming year’s. In 2002-2003 Portlaw NS used 7999 units of energy. On average we used 21.91 units of electricity a day. Each pupil on average used 43 units of energy each year
