We take part in a lot of quizzes and enjoy participating in them very much. The National Parents Council organise a big, nation-wide Quiz, which Cadbury’s sponsor each year. During the quiz there is a raffle, the prizes include t-shirts, callcards, pencil-cases, pens and pencils etc. We also get free chocolate and drinks.
The Credit Union Quiz was held in our school. The winners would go through to the next stage in Clonmel Co. Tipperary. The winners got a calculator, a sports bag and a plaque. Unfortunately we didn’t win in Clonmel.
Another quiz was the Sports Quiz and the first year that it was held 1991 Portlaw National School came first. The Quizmaster is well known because he is also a sports Quizmaster on television, his name is Jimmy Magee. It was held in Jury’s Hotel in Waterford. The team was Dermot Keyes, Connor Dooley, John Hartley and John Riordan.
Other quizzes that we are involved in are Stradbally Tidy Towns Quiz, Piltown Community Centre Quiz, Mooncoin Pioneer Quiz, De la Salle St Stephens Street Centenary Quiz and Mental Health Quiz.
