Soccer in the school is good. We train in the park across the road. The surface is not great but we can manage. We played a soccer blitz in Tramore which is about 22 kilometres away. The girls a blitz in Ferrybank which is also about 23 kilometres away. It is the first time the girls took part in a soccer tournament.

In 1991 we won the division 2, the captain was Victor Bowers. In 1993 we again won the division 2 , the captain was Lesley Russell. The name of the soccer pitch in Portlaw is the Paddock. Our county team Waterford United are in the Premier division of the National League and play their games at the Regional Sports Centre.

A favourite interest of mine is playing soccer I’ve enjoyed this for about two years. Many of my friends play soccer also.We train every Saturday on the Portlaw pitch. Sometimes we play matches against Ballyduff andButlerstown. I would like to play soccer for Manchester United. Mr. Curran would be very proud of me then. My favourite player is Ryan Giggs. He is very skilful.
