  • River Moy

As you drive along the banks of the River Moy it is obvious that you are in a major angling centre. The Moy is one of Europe’s most important salmon rivers and attracts thousands of fishermen each year.
The Ridgpool where the salmon jump the weir is booked up months in advance by anglers from all over the World.

  • Lough Conn & Lough Cullen

Lough Conn and Lough Cullen in Co Mayo are in an unbelievably beautiful location. It is estimated that there are about half a million wild trout in these lakes and about 500 salmon are caught annually.

Lough Conn is a big lough stretching about 14,000 acres (approximately 5.5km long and1.5km wide), it and its immediate neighbour to the south L. Cullin, reached by going under pontoon bridge, are connected to the sea by that great Salmon river the Moy. The lakes provide excellent trout fishing. Salmon also enter Lough Conn and are caught in fair numbers. The general wet fly fishing is very good. The average size of a Conn trout is about 13ozs and the average bag is over three per rod its smaller neighbour L. Cullin produces fish around 3/4 lb. The seasons run from 1st February to September 30th for salmon and from 15th February to 10th October for trout.

  • Lough Talt

About 7 miles from Ballina, Lough Talt provides brown trout catches between February and October. The scenery is unmatched in the county and the the tranquility alone is worth the trip.

  • Sea Angling

Killala Bay is a very popular angling centre which is fished from Enniscrone, Killala and Ballina. A wide variety of species are available to boat anglers including ray, dogfish, turbot, megrim and dabs, all of which may be taken over sand while conger, ling, pollack and coalfish are taken from the reefs. On the Moy estuary, which flows into Killala Bay, fishing for sea trout, using sandeel or mackerel strip, is highly popular.
